Washington County Sheriff officials say Patrick Slider, who allegedly faked his own disappearance before going to trial, was arrested in Taylor, Michigan Sunday.

Major John Winstanley of the Washington County Sheriff's Department says someone who knows Slider told Michigan State Police he was hiding out in a motel there. Taylor is located about 46 miles north of Toledo, Ohio. It is also nearly 18 miles southwest of Detroit.

Around 2 p.m. Sunday Michigan State Police obtained a search warrant and went to Slider's motel room. Major Winstanley says Slider wouldn't come to the motel room door so they had to break in.

He says after a brief struggle, Michigan State Police tased and arrested Slider.

Slider was in custody at the Wayne County Jail Sunday awaiting an extradition hearing. If he waives the hearing, Major Winstanly believes Slider will quickly return to Washington County but if he doesn't then a governor's warrant will be issued for him to return to stand trial.

Washington County Sheriff's officials say Slider faked his own disappearance July 31 at Mountwood Park to avoid going to trial Aug. 11.

He was set to go to trial on 12 felony counts of allegedly stealing and reselling hundreds of thousands of pills from his past employer Stericycle. He was also charged with theft of drugs and receiving stolen property. For these charges alone, he could face up to 82 years in prison if he's found guilty.

He didn't show up for court, and on Aug. 14 a warrant was issued for his arrest for failure to appear in court.

Last Wednesday a judge revoked Slider's $60,000 bond he was released on before going to trial. The bond company, A1 Bond Company, has to pay the bond but plans to appeal it.

Another warrant for his arrest was issued prior to that on Aug. 1. This warrant is for possession of weapons under disability. This was after the Washington County Sheriff's Department searched Slider's Little Hocking home and found weapons. He wasn't permitted to have them because of previous felony convictions.

Major Crimes Task Force member and Marietta Police Dept. Detective Greg Nohe says Slider is also a person of interest in the pipe bomb cases at the Guysville and Stewart, Ohio U.S. Post Offices and the armed robbery at Coolville branch of the Hocking Valley Bank July 29.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department has been working with the FBI, West Virginia State Police, U.S. Postal Service, Athens County Sheriff's Department, and the Major Crimes Task Force on these crimes.

Major Winstanley says Michigan State Police were still searching the motel room Sunday afternoon for weapons, a large amount of money, and any other possible evidence.

Det. Nohe says it's unclear why Slider was in Taylor, MI and if he could be connected to any other crimes.

Pat always said he was going to make it big one day and Boy has he. I in know way condone his stupidity or what he has done to others in the past. I knew him for several years before his latest idiotic crime sprees. He intimidated all that were around him with his threats of violence. He's not that big a man but always had a back up like the coward he really is if you know what i mean.Well you got it comming old buddy You and Yours are finally getting what you deserve. I DONT feel sorry for his family or children as they All KNEW what he was involved in and participated in some of it.My thoughts and Prayers to all his Many victims and their familys. Finally another DRUG PUSHING BANK ROBBING PUNK IS OFF THE STREETS.And yes send an armed guard many if you have them. He will be looking for any chance to escape the sneaky snake that he is.

I just find it so funny that the police in Southeastern Ohio and the Police in Wood County concentrate so much on busting drug dealers and such when there have been unsolved murders and on top of that they all cover up their own family members who either use or deal as well. When are the cops going to do something about them. Also why do they let people inform and continue to deal???? this makes no sense. if they really wanted to get rid of the drug problem then they probably should start at home.......

you know i just wonder if he ever gave it a thought about what his wife and kids and step kids were going to go through while he was running.? i mean what did they have to go through while all of this happened????? i mean you go to your place of employment and take things that are not yours.....that is stealing but to take perscriptions is the stupidest thing to do.. i just feel sorry for his wife and children for what they have been through and what they are about to go through!!!!!!!!!!! my thoughts and prayers go out to them.....NOT HIM!!!!

This is the best news...now he can serve time for EVERYTHING he's done. I'm sure his "children" know the directions to the jail, he's been there before and they can visit him like the loyal subjects they are. They tazered him...that's the best part. I hope he gets an idea of what he's put people through. Armed robbery is no laughing matter and those people are still suffering. I hope he finds a "friend" in jail a real big friend.

You can run, but you can't hide. Way to go law enforcement officials on this case. I hope he gets a long time in jail and I hope if his family knew where he was this whole time, charges are brought against them as well.

Do I understand the statement correctly that if Slider waives the extradition hearing he will be on his own to come back to Marietta??? Hey, what about sending Major Winstanley to pick him up to make sure Slider DOES make it back to Marietta..
