A Washington County man may have to wear a restraining device during his trial set to begin next Monday.
Jason Berecz is facing 17 total indictments from an April incident where police say she shot an officer and held them at an all night standoff.
Washington County Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Rings says Monday they filed a motion to apply a bandit device to Berecz before his trial begins.
Rings says a bandit device is attached to a prisoner and can be activated to administer a shock similar to a taser.
He says that if Berecz were to misbehave during the trial it would be a quick way to deal with it.
Judge Ed Lane is considering the motion at this time. Rings says he expects Judge Lane to rule on the motion next Monday morning.
