An area college instructor is free on a personal recognizance bond Friday following an arrest Thursday on a charge of voyeurism.

The Marietta Police Department says 57-year-old Larry Robinson of Parkersburg was arrested at the Washington County Public Library, following an undercover operation at the library.

The undercover police operation was planned after a voyeurism complaint at the same library was filed by a woman earlier in the week.

During the operation that ensued, officers say Robinson followed the undercover female around the second floor book section. Officers say Robinson then positioned himself one book row away from her. He then allegedly laid down on the floor and used a small convex mirror to look up the woman's skirt.

The Marietta Police Department says Robinson is an instructor at Washington State Community College. Representatives from the college were not available for comment Friday.

The Marietta Police Department is asking that anyone who may have additional information on this case should call the department at (740) 373-4141.

Shame on you! Consider yourself ousted from preaching what you practice!

My mother acted really strange and did things not were things she would ever have been done before. About two weeks after things got bad, she had a massive heart attack...doctors said that when the brain isn't receiving enough oxygen a person can do some really odd things...Larry, get yourself to your doctor to make sure things are alright. Your students still need and support you.

While a student at Parkersburg, Larry, on more than one occassion asked me to meet him somewhere. He was my instructor, and also a married man with a family.... I, in NO uncertain terms definately told him NO! On his defense, he was a very good instructor and I really did learn alot from him. What has happened to the Larry Robinson that we all knew. This doesn't sound like him at all.

I had Robinson at WVU-P and I can't see him laying on the floor. He definitely would need help getting back up!!!

I have the displeasure of knowing this guy and this is NO surprise to me.

Posted by: student Location: belpre on Oct 6, 2008 at 08:47 AM
wow.....he is one of my teachers now i could never have thought he would do something like this!! i wonder if we will still have class!! this is a total shock!!!

Posted by: mrs h Location: elizabeth on Oct 6, 2008 at 07:26 AM
what kind of thrill would you get out of that. sick puppy.

Posted by: Bob Location: Belpre on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:44 PM
He was essentionally being a "Peeping Tom" or being sexually aroused by trying to look up the woman's dress with the mirror. Similar to watching someone get undressed by "peeping" through their bedroom window.

Posted by: Lisa Location: Parkersburg on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:27 PM
I am also in shock. Mr. Robinson was one of my instructors at WVU-P several years ago. He was an awesome instructor and was well respected. This is a shame.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:09 PM
Voyeurism is the act of spying on someone for sexual arousal.

Posted by: bill Location: parkersburg on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:39 AM
He's in are school god help us all

Posted by: Student Location: Belpre on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:39 AM
Larry Robinson...what have you gotten yourself into now? He taught one of the classes I took at WSCC, can't say I saw THIS happening.

Posted by: former student Location: vienna wv on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:02 PM
Anyone who knows Larry knows that this is not typical behavior. He has numerous health problems and before anyone jumps to judge him, remember that only our Heavenly Father has that right. If it were not for the encouragement that Larry gave me, I would have never been able to graduate from college and be successful. Larry, you and your family are in my prayers. God bless you.

Voyeurism is the sexual interest in spying on people engaged in intimate behaviors, such as undressing or sexual activity. This is the definition from wikipedia..doesn't sound like the right charge...

Voyeurism is the sexual interest in spying on people engaged in intimate behaviors, such as undressing and sexual activity. Sick.

Posted by: student Location: ohio on Oct 4, 2008 at 05:42 PM
mr robinson needs oxygen at all times to get around-yet he can get up and down that fast off the floor?? i have been his student for more than one class and this just dosent seem like something he would do. i dont know.......

Posted by: Paul Location: Parkersburg on Oct 4, 2008 at 05:30 PM
For the person who doesn't know what Voyeurism is, it is most commonly defined something like: A person who derives gratification from observing the naked / partially clothed bodies or even sexual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.

Posted by: anonymous Location: Marietta on Oct 4, 2008 at 04:48 PM
what does this mean for his students...this is a huge shock

Posted by: Anonymous2 Location: Marietta Oh on Oct 4, 2008 at 01:56 PM
I find it ironic that the subject matter this instructor taught were in areas of Criminal Justice, Sociology, and State and Local Government. I guess practicing what you preach is not applicable to this individual. I have attempted to look up information on Voyeurism in the state of Ohio but have not found much.

i had this teacher, never understood a word he said, glad he got arrested, he tried to fail me! KARMA

Posted by: Annie Location: North Carolina on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:18 AM
I went to WVU-P over 12 years ago when he was an instructor there, this is no surprise. He always crossed the line then, and obviously he is still doing it. Shame.

Posted by: Kelly Location: Parkersburg on Oct 4, 2008 at 09:31 AM
I cannot believe my eyes. Mr. Robinson was my teacher at WVUP. Of all the classes he could have taught...he was my teacher for Criminal Behavior and Penology. It is very sad!

Posted by: Bea Kuhl Location: Ripley, WV on Oct 4, 2008 at 09:25 AM
Larry, Maybe one too many Deviant Behavior classes? And I thought Peeping Toms were a thing of the past. Nothing about you surprises me. That is why I took your classes and loved every one of them. Now get back on the other side of the tracks and do the right thing. Make your family proud (and all of your students, too).

Posted by: jim Location: parkersburg on Oct 4, 2008 at 07:14 AM
is he the larry robinson that taught at wvu-p criminal justice?

Posted by: trish Location: parkersburg on Oct 4, 2008 at 12:07 AM
This is so hard to believe. He was one of my teachers for 2 different classes. This is just a real shocker.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 3, 2008 at 11:19 PM
WOW... thats all I can say! Larry was an instructor of mine for many classes & this is just... WOW! Larry Larry Larry... did you teach one too many deviant behaviour classes!?

Posted by: Somebody Location: Marietta on Oct 3, 2008 at 11:11 PM
This guy is huge, carries around a breathing machine with a tube in his nose, and walks with a cane. He lays on the floor??!!! Don't see how he could get back up. Did the cops see this with their own eyes?

Posted by: student Location: marietta on Oct 3, 2008 at 09:39 PM
wow thats nuts! I have him for government class! I wonder if I should still do my homework?

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 3, 2008 at 08:46 PM
this is a real shock..I feel sorry for the family.

Posted by: Roger Location: Williamstown on Oct 3, 2008 at 07:59 PM
Perhaps we are seeing more of this deviant behavior because men and women are no longer living traditional lives as the Bible directs. At any rate, larry is innocent until a jury of his peers says he is guilty.

Posted by: Student Location: Belpre on Oct 3, 2008 at 06:46 PM
This is such a shock. He was one of my teachers and I would have never expected this. I always really liked him, too.

Posted by: Bob Location: Marietta on Oct 3, 2008 at 06:11 PM
Wow... the last time I saw you, you were quoting from the bible in front of the congregation. Sad...
