Business Not Too Bad in the Area

While business is gloom and doom on Wall Street, many businesses in the mid-Ohio valley say things are not that bad.
Area Roundtable President Keith Burdette says this is, in part, because businesses here are typically conservative with their investments.
He says this prevented businesses from feeling the economic boom that the rest of the nation felt years ago.
But now it is protecting area companies from the major losses companies around the country are coping with.
Burdette says one change he has noticed is businesses holding back on future investments.
"Small businesses, they struggle day to day. Every day is a different problem when you're a small business. They're probably taking a wait and see approach," said Burdette.
The Marietta Chamber of Commerce say they've seen similar trends there as well.
Most businesses say they are not seeing any major changes from the national slump.
