A $200,000 grant for a boat dock on the Harmar Village side of the Muskingum River has been approved.

State representative Jennifer Garrison said the State Controlling Board approved the grant Monday.

Now the city will move forward in a quality base selection process for the design of the Americans with Disabilities Act compliant boat dock.

There are also plans for a paved path and additional lighting.

Officials said the grant is lower than what the city applied for and the scale of the dock has lowered from 200 feet to 100 feet.

The money is made possible by the Waterways Safety Fund administered by the Ohio Division of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft.

First things first.I think ODNR needs to take care of it's Natural Recources first before funding money for luxuries. What about the closing of the Marietta State Nursery? Are Taxpayers willing to throw in the towel after spending Millions on the new facility? Thought we were all about going Green and taking care of the enviornment. Myself I would rather consentrate on the environment and put the grant money to good use. After all, this is one of the last State nurseries which produces over two million trees a year. How do you think Ohioans are going to replace this void in our resources if it closes. Funding like this, might better be spent on our future generation rather than a luxury. Shame on our State Goverment for even approving such a grant. Come on Ohio, wake up!!!!!!
