Voting has already started in some places, but there's still a lot of preparation that goes into election day.
One of the most important things is making sure election polls are ready for voters, which is just what they're doing in Washington County.
"Sometimes some of these voters need quite a bit of help," Bob Becker, an election poll worker, said.
And Becker says he's the man for the job, and working the election polls is something he's been doing for about 15 years.
"I make more money in one day than I used to make the first month i was in the army," he said.
But it's not the money that keeps Becker coming back every election day.
"That's one of the great things about this country. We've got the right to vote and say what we think," he said.
The Washington County Board of Elections is expecting a record turnout at the polls this year, so they want to make sure their poll workers are up to date with all the changes, so that on election day everything runs smoothly for voters.
"They need to be trained once every three years. That's the requirement, but since this is a very large and national election, we will be training all our poll workers again," Tara Hupp, election poll training supervisor, said.
Training that people like Becker say is important for the job.
"Every time there seems to be something new that's added to it and i want to make sure I keep up to date and get it done right," he said.
Keeping up with the changes so that voters' voices can be heard accurately.
This was the first training for poll workers this year, but other sessions will be held.
220 people will be working the election polls in Washington County this year.
