A Williamstown corn field has been transformed into the new home of the Williamstown High School soccer team.

Three years ago the high school only offered coed club soccer and then two years ago it became a varsity sport.

Now thanks to the donation of land from Denny and Sherri Huggins, the Yellow Jackets have a home field. The land was dedicated as "Huggins Field" Saturday.

"Now the interest has been so high, the sign-up for soccer has enabled us to have our first year this year a JV team," said parent Joe Shaw.

Yellow Jackets soccer head coach Bob Winkler said "by giving them the opportunity to excel on an athletic field of competition instills discipline, responsibility and the personal drive."

Plans are in place for more soccer fields next to this field.

Saturday the Yellow Jackets won their first home game on the field against Tyler Consolidated 4-3.
