At first, it was tought to be stolen. But as it turns out ... the historical land marker from Tomlinson Park has been removed for cleaning.

Williamstown Police told WTAP Wednesday they believed the sign at Tomlinson Park in Williamstown had been stolen.

Thursday, officials from the West Virginia Division of Highways said the sign in Williamstown has been collected to be refurbished.

Williamstown Police Chief Bill Adkins says an employee in the sign division notified authorities that the sign was in the DOH workshop.

After after the work is finished, the sign will be returned to its orginal location.
