Update: Charleston Area Medical Center Monday morning says Bythe Horton has been discharged from that hospital. An operator says Horton has most likely been transferred to a hospital in her home state of South Carolina. The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says Horton died from her injuires Sunday Night.

A woman is in critical condition Thursday afternoon after an accident on Interstate 77 Wednesday.

The crash happened near the Ripley exit on I-77. Jackson County sheriff's officials say 47-year-old Blythe Horton of North August, South Carolina was traveling northbound.

Officials say Horton drove her car across the median into the southbound lane in the path of a tractor trailer.

The truck driver tried to avoid Horton's car but eventually hit it, went into the median, and blocked the northbound lanes of the interstate.

The accident remains under investigation.

Horton is at Charleston General Hospital in critical condition Thursday afternoon.

It was definitely her fault. I was behind the tractor trailer and witnessed the whole thing.

well if the driver tried to avoid hitting the other car there should be only a citation issued for failure to maintain control. i say this because he didn't do it on purpose .
