Everyone has different traditions when it comes to their families' Thanksgivings.

While the turkey is heating up, many families sit around the television to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
This year you could notice a local face in the crowd.

Calhoun County's very own Niki Liles is putting on her dancing shoes and heading to New York City.

Niki Liles talks about leaving for New York City, "It's probably the most exciting thing that's ever happen to me in my entire life."

Not only is Niki excited but the students and teachers are too.

Calhouns Middle/High School Principal Karen Kirby describes Niki, "She is a very good student she makes excellent academic grades. She is very polite and well mannered."

Niki's passion for life is dancing and this year's Thanksgiving Day Parade holds some sentimental value for her

Niki says, "I'm going to spend a week in New York and then be in this parade that my grandma and I used to watch all the time when I was young. It was big thing. And since my grandmother passed away this is would be the biggest thing if my grandmother were alive."

Niki was determind to make two dreams come true.
