I am also hearing about jobs being cut today at Dupont. Also that there were a lot of independent contractors who have been employed there for years being laid off.
I've heard that 150 employees were laid off at Dupont Washington today?
I am a contractor at DuPont Washington Works in Washington, WV. We just received word that there will be DuPont positions that will be terminated by the end of 2008. Mostly Salary-exempt jobs that are in the Automotive Support businesses. How many, we are not sure.
Since the economy is in a recession, so many people are getting laid off from their jobs. My brother lost his job last year due to the mortgage crisis. It's very sad to see this happen in 2008 and I'm really hoping things will pick up soon. Jobs are hard to find, even during the holiday season and for those who are still unemployed, I give my sympathy to. A potential option for those still seeking for a job, is to look into an entrepreneurial experience. I used to work at Vector for 2 years while in college. I only worked part-time but made pretty good money for the hours I worked.
