Some tax preparers predict more people will be filing earlier for their taxes in order to get their refunds sooner this year.

If you file electronically the IRS said you can get your refund directly into your bank account in as few as ten days.

Lonnie Z. Bennett of Bennett Tax and Financial Service said refunds from West Virginia and Ohio took a couple of weeks last year.

"January 16 is the first official day that the IRS is accepting e-files so many tax preparers will be preparing and collecting returns before that day but they aren't allowed to transmit them until that day and so the time line starts then for how quickly you can get it back," said Bennett.

If you make $54,000 or less you could be eligible to use free file to electronically file your federal income tax returns.
