Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks was first elected in 2004, reelected last year and is now serving his second term.
Before his wife, fellow officers and Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy Sheriff Mincks was sworn in for his new term Monday.
He thanked his family, co-workers, and citizens but also noted the challenges ahead.
"Probably the biggest one is going to be our budget. I'm going to be working very closely with the new commissioners because we have been cut several positions in our civil division and also one in our corrections and I need to get with them to try and resolve that," said Sheriff Mincks.
Another continuous challenge he said is the narcotics epidemic on both sides of the river.
He plans to work closely with Wood County Sheriff Sandy to aggressively pursue prosecution of drug traffickers.
