A former Parkersburg city councilman pleaded guilty to petit larceny in magistrate court last week.
Magistrate Emily Bradley said former District Eight Councilman Jim Knapp pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to ten days in jail.
Magistrate Bradley suspended the sentence as part of the plea agreement. He was placed on unsupervised probation for one year.
The charge reportedly stems from an incident where he stole three bottles of arctic freeze refrigerant from the south side Wal-Mart. This is where Knapp used to work.
The bottles of refrigerant are estimated to be worth about $85.
