The Federal Government has run out of money to help people purchase digital converter boxes for their televisions.

Starting February 17th, TV stations will switch to a digital signal, so anyone using rabbit ears will have to get a converter for their television.

The Federal Government had been mailing out 40 dollar vouchers to help people purchase the boxes, which run between 40 and 80 dollars.

However, because so many people have requested the coupons, the government has run out of money to cover the vouchers.

Anyone who applied after January 4th will be put on a waiting list until morefunds become available.

Gary you are so right. I got two and they expired in December. NEVER used them. There is 80 dollars the government can pocket. They should know it as they had an expiration on them. I still have them.

The government needs to get the vouchers back from people who don't need them. Some people were told if their tv was not a digital set they would not get reception. However, they are on cable, so they don't have a problem. This was brought on by salespeople who was telling people their non-digital tv's were not going to work under the new system. This was done to sell new digital tvs. What a hoax.
