Americas Styrenics has announced it's eliminating 60 jobs at its Marietta plant on Ohio Route Seven.
The Marietta plant also is reducing its production of polystyrene by close to 350 million pounds.
The company says the action is a result not only of the current economic downturn, but of economic pressures on the industry during the past several years.
"It's other resin replacements, other material replacements. Certainly, the economy has something to do with it. If there's anything good to come out of this, we think this new configuration will allow us to be sustainable for the long term."
