The Washington County sheriff's dispatch is looking to increase its workforce by one.
911 coordinator Mike Cullums met with county commissioners Thursday to request another dispatcher be hired for the county sheriff's department.
Cullums says the funds are available and would come from the wireless 911 fund.
This fund has increased over the years because of more people using their cell phones to dial 911.
Cullums says adding this position would be an asset to the entire community.
"911 calls always get answered and that's of course the top priority. Where this will really help more will be with officers, firefighters and EMT's out in the field; the dispatchers will be able to help them a little better."
He also says the commission is considering his request.
