The Wood County Commission is seeking funds for a variety of much-discussed projects from the proposed federal stimulus package.
They include renovations at the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Airport...infrastructure improvements at Mountwood Park...and construction of the much-discussed Wood County Justice Center.
A long-standing problem for which money is being sought...is correction of flooding problems in Boaz.
"Roads and sewers are really not part of the county commission's responsibility," said Commissioner Blair Couch. "That project, if it were to be moved forward, would certainly be a benefit to Wood County as a whole, and to the residents of Boaz."
Stimulus funding is also being sought for Parkersburg City projects, including the Riverfront Park and the Elite Sports Center.
Congress may act on President-Elect Obama's stimulus package proposal after next week's inauguration.
