It may be hard to believe this Friday with temperatures in the mid-forties but between March 11-14 in 1993 Parkersburg got hit with 21 inches of snow!
The blizzard carried hurricane force winds across 26 states and shattered snowfall records across the east and southeast.
Parkersburg Police remember the National Guard being deployed here to help even officers get around.
Maxine Elder a Boaz resident said "It was bad. I mean it was really bad."
"Well we didn't have but two S10 police vehicles," said Parkersburg Police Captain Keith Roberts.
He said after the blizzard "they started buying more four wheel drives. They started buying Jeep four wheel drives and stuff like that to prepare for situations like this and we got more four wheel drives on the parking lot than we ever have."
Also the following year a new city administration took over and purchased more snow removal equipment.
