A 29-year-old man enters a guilty plea...at a hearing with a change in attorneys.
Justin Roush Monday pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of a controlled substance, all involving prescription drugs.
The case made headlines last year because Roush was the son of an employee of then-Wood county prosecutor ginny conley.
Pleasants County Prosecutor Tim Sweeney since has been appointed a special prosecutor in the case.
"In order to prevent the possibility of an unsuccessful prosecution," Sweeney told the court, "as well as bring certain matters the state of
West Virginia might percieve as sensitive, if not embarrassing, I believe that this is the best decision."
Circuit Judge J.D. Beane heard the plea. Judge Jeff Reed, who was assigned the case last year, recused himself last October.
Roush is to be sentenced June 8th...but by that time, there will be another change in attorneys.
Defense attorney Joseph Troisi has withdrawn from the case, and is being replaced by Wells Dillon.
