Hartline said the competition did get serious and stressful.

Stephen said all of his family members are good spellers and he wanted carry on the tradition.
The fifteen year old said that he had been studying for the National Spelling Bee twenty minutes a day for four years, but it wasn't enough.
"I think I should of studied more. Toward the end when I went to leave I could of studied more,"said Hartline.
Stephen's mother Mary Hartline was proud of her son's accomplishments, "It was a great experience, it really was."
This year was Stephen Hartline's last chance to be a National Spelling Bee winner, he will be too old to compete next year.
