On July 1 the Humane Society of Parkersburg will no longer provide after hours animal control services for Wood County. So the county commission is looking into other options of who can provide this service.
Two interested parties met with the commissioners Monday morning and a Ritchie County company contacted them earlier.
Blair Couch, commissioner said "At some point in time we need to discuss similar arrangements with the humane society. In years past we have provided them with a lump sum funding of which they operate for the year on and we're discussing per diem rates for animals, we're discussing call out fees and we're discussing hiring some outside vendor to support the humane society or go do it alone."
Commissioners hope to make a decision in the next couple of weeks.
Couch said the humane society will no longer provide any humane officer care as of July 1 2010.
