UPDATE Monday 6:54 PM

Crews and family members continued to search for any sign of a 20-year-old Parkersburg resident who has been missing since a boat capsized Saturday evening.

Family members of Jeremy Midcap waited at the Belpre access ramp Monday for any sign of their loved one.

Officials at the West Viriginia DNR said Saturday evening seven people were in a 19-foot bayliner, idling off the shore of Blennerhassett Island when it started taking on water and sank.

According to officials there were enough life jackets on board and everyone was scrambling for them when the boat capsized.

Five people made it safely to shore. Fifty-year-old David Midcap was recovered and later pronounced dead at a hospital but his son, Jeremy, is still missing.

Karen Byers, mother of Jeremy Midcap, said "He's just an outgoing person. He'd help anybody. He loved to work on vehicles...and he's got a nine-month-old baby. That's what's so sad about it."

According to the DNR choppy water, high winds, and a swift current contributed to the accident as well as unequal weight distribution of the passengers on the boat.

Sergeant Clyde Armstead said alcohol was found on the boat but it's unclear at this time who was drinking and it is under investigation.

Sergeant Armstead said Tuesday the search will continue with cadaver dogs on a boat with officials.

UPDATE Sunday 10:30 PM

The search continues for a Parkersburg man who has been missing since a boating accident Saturday evening.

It happened around 6:00 off the shore of Blennerhassett Island.

West Virginia DNR Sergeant Stan Hickman says seven people were idling on the Ohio River on a 19-foot bayliner.

Sergeant Hickman says the driver turned upstream and the boat started taking on water.

He says there were enough life jackets on board and the passengers were scrambling to get them as the boat sank.

Seargeant Hickman says it only took about 20 seconds before the boat capsized.

Five people made it safely to shore.

50-year-old David Midcap was recovered and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Crews have spent the past 24 hours searching for 20-year-old Jeremy Midcap.

The search has been called off for the night and will resume first thing Monday morning.

Sergeant Hickman says it does not appear the boat was over capacity.

The accident is still under investigation.
