Motorists are being advised to expect up to 20 minute delays on Route 50 Monday, June 22nd in Washington county.
The interruption is being announced by flashing digital caution signs along Route 50 west of Parkersburg, near the Athens county line.
A construction area near Torch, Ohio has seen pre-construction work this spring. At this time, traffic lanes have been restricted to just one lane in both directions..
But now, the County Road 62, Yuba Ridge Road project is NOT involved in a relocation of utility lines sometime on Monday. An ODOT spokesperson says an unknown utility company is responsible for the signs.
Motorists have been advised to expect 20 minutes delay when the effort begins.
There is no word on exactly when this blockage will occur, but it is likely that flagmen or police cars will stop traffic when it begins.
Upgrades to Yuba Ridge Road have been expected ever since massive flooding on the Ohio River revealed how limited access to Hockingport could become during high water. The only high level access to the Athens County community on the Ohio River was via the twisted Yuba Ridge Road.
Now, a new access point and improved curves will be established by continued road improvement projects.
It is expected that project will be finished yet this construction season.
In the meantime, motorists on Route 50 should be aware of the temporary blockage by the one-day only utility relocation phase.
Calls to the State Highway Patrol post could not confirm the time of planned interruption. ODOT says the relocation and delay is NOT related to their project.
