Ohio lawmakers continue to battle to balance the state's $54,000 budget by Tuesday's deadline.
There is a $3.2 billion hole in the budget that the republican-led senate and democrat-led house are disagreeing over how to fill.
Governor Ted Strickland has proposed legalizing slot machines at seven horse racetracks in Ohio.
This would generate nearly $1 billion.
Republicans are questioning the gambling proposal in light of Ohioans' repeated rejection of casino-style gambling in the past.
"If that's the part of our balanced budget framework that they do not accept, it's their responsibility to give us an option for further cuts or revenue enhancers that they think we should have to plug that hole in the budget," said Jennifer Garrison, Ohio State Representative, 93rd District.
In the meantime, an interim budget would run through July 7th to give lawmakers more time to balance the two-year spending plan.
