Well, both Michelle and Joel will be fine. Dan is still in the max security wing with the kid that is accused of shooting his mom in the face taking the other half of his cell. And I am still dumbfounded about the whole thing.

I have gone thru and read all the comments made here. Some are quite interesting. I wonder if we will ever know the truth of what took place that evening. There are going to be many speculations I am sure. Does anyone know what has happened since?? I have been watching the news and have heard nothing more. Are Joel and Michelle okay? Is Dan out of jail? Hope everyone is okay.

To SOMEONE CLOSE regarding your comments from 07/04/09...WOW. Your vituperation is both specious and circular. By your logic, Torquemada would have escaped history with impunity. On one hand, you say "we should never judge period" and within a few keystrokes say "glad Dan is in jail". That comment is convenient (since your not the one in jail), being both defamatory and opprobrious. I typically would not expend time responding to such convoluted and mind-numbing gibberish, but I must say--spend a little more time re-reading/editng and little less time watching Dr. Phil. By the way, whatever jury pool you're in, I hope they have plenty of chlorine.

I went to school with Dan and Michelle. They were together back in the late 70's. Never met Joel. We all have been thru alot. We know what it is like to keep a marriage together, make ends meet and work out issues, provide a home. Regardless of any issues one might have with Dan. If the description of events is half fact, Joel went to Dans home, forced entry and an altercation broke out. Dan should be home with Michelle and Joel should be awaiting charges. Thank God no one is Dead. Hope Dan is released soon.

I know Dan and Joel they are both careing men with big hearts. Its just sad they didnt think about their children and michelle and how it would effect them with such violence..Hopefully now that the good Lord spared all their lives they will learn to resolve and handle their differences in ways other than violence.

My heart goes out to my neighbors ,friends and men in the rescue squad that helped save joels life and my own. Tobi,Sherri and family my heart goes out to all of you as well .I can only hope that no one has to ever experience a tragic event such as this.As for dan he reacted purley out of fear. And i believe i can speak for us all when i say" we all are truley hurting inside by this tragedy"and will be for a long time to come.

Local Resident, If you ask me Michelle and Joel could both take Athens County to the cleaners on this one. Athens as you know turned down Little Hockings offer to help.

Dear Someone Close To The Situation you want to talk all this crap about jumping to conclusions, taking sides and judging yet you can sit there and say you are glad a man is in jail for protecting his wife and his self at his OWN HOME!HAVE YOU YOUR SELF TALKED TO ALL THREE PEOPLE INVOLVED ? I BET NOT!IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU TOO SHOULD KNOW ALL FACTS BEFOR SAYING YOUR GLAD A MAN IS IN JAIL!

The fact is two people could have lost their lives due to the poor responce time of the Athens County rescue squad.

Nothing good can come from a man thinking a woman is his possession

SOMEONE CLOSE, I was enjoying the non-flaming posting from people closest to all 3 as most seem to have a level head in the matter. Untill the post before this I never said that I think the wrong guy is in jail.So when you say:"There is NONE, including Scott, who knows what actually took place there except the three that were involved, and thru the evidence, the detectives. We should never judge anyone because of their size, or demeanor. Honestly, we should never judge period!" And"I am very thankful Joel (and Michelle) are both still alive. I am sure thru the investigation that justice will be served, also glad Dan is in jail" Your thankfull that Joel is alive, -->(Michelle was added as an after tought)<-- and Dan was tossed in vindictivaly at the end. You need to take this advice you yourself gave." Let the facts speak for themself. I agree that everyone should be able to speak their opinions, but do us ALL a big favor, and know for sure what you are speaking about first!" ... next?

I have to agree with a "good friend". Joel is a hard person to get to know but he has a big heart. He tends to hide his feelings by being brusque. However, there are a lot of "facts" that are not able at this time to be shared here because of the ongoing investigation, so there is LOT that people don't know. What bothers me the most is how people tend to jump to conclusions and take sides without knowing all the facts. There is NONE, including Scott, who knows what actually took place there except the three that were involved, and thru the evidence, the detectives. We should never judge anyone because of their size, or demeanor. Honestly, we should never judge period! Let the facts speak for themself. I agree that everyone should be able to speak their opinions, but do us ALL a big favor, and know for sure what you are speaking about first!! I am very thankful Joel (and Michelle) are both still alive. I am sure thru the investigation that justice will be served, also glad Dan is in jail

concerned, That is another Athens issue, and they need to thank God everyone will be ok. As close as it was for Joel...wow.

Well this comment block is about the most constructive, non flaming one I have had the pleasure of reading. That said I want to be sure people understand that I never said I dislike Joel as a person. I did for sure say that this was his doing, and Danny should not be in jail. The two have been on the path to this for a long time, and we all wish this had a non-violent end. My main complaint in this is how Athens Co has handled the process. Anyone know what the bail was set at? For "felonious assult" defending yourself? How does $250,000.00 sound for someone who is not, has never been a flight risk? Athens Co sure knows how to support attorneys and bondsmen. I will give the Detective credit for returning my call and answering what questions he could within the restrictions he has. But the rest of that show over there disturbs me with abuse of power to be honest. This has law suit all over it.
