Wood County Schools are getting $25,000 for a new state program aimed at improving classroom success.

West Virginia First Lady Gayle Manchin and the Education Alliance handed the grants out to four school principals for the SEEDS program.

That stands for student educational economic development success.

The Wood County Grant was awarded to Steve Taylor of Van Devender Middle School.

Charlie Crooks of the Blennerhassett Hotel will serve as the business mentor for Wood County's program.

The other schools awarded are Williamson Middle School in Mingo County, Rupert Elementary school in Greenbrier County and Nicholas County Career and Technical Center.
