A junior at PHS will be representing Parkersburg and the state of West Virginia at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.
Sixteen-year-old Andrew Kirk who takes private lessons and is part of the Big Red Marching Band has been selected to play the snare drum with the Macy's Great American Marching Band.
"The kid worked his tail off to get where he is today and now I'm so proud of him I don't know what to say," said Kirk's percussion instructor Chet Backus.
Kirk said "I'm so excited. It's going to be an amazing experience."
A fund has been set up in Kirk's name at United Banks across the state to help send him to the Big Apple.
If there is any money left over Kirk says it will go into a scholarship fund to help give other students this opportunity in the future.
