Two Columbus men remain behind bars Monday morning after leading authorities on a high speed and reckless chase that involved a stolen car.
It happened just before noon on I-77 in Washington County Sunday.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say Christian Polanco and Mark Ashbrook were both driving 86 miles per hour when officials tried to pull them over.
Officials say the pair tried to flee by getting off at the Marietta and Lower Salem exit.
Authorities say as they were heading onto State Route 821 Ashbrook's passenger, Donald Toler, threw a loaded gun out the window. The gun was recovered at the scene.
They say Ashbrook then rear-ended Planco with his car.
Troopers then arrested Polanco for driving under suspension and reckless operation.
Officials say Ashbrook fled the accident and abandoned his car.
Marietta Police officers were able to find Ashbrook and his passenger Donald Toler.
Ashbrook was arrested for possession of drugs and a felony count of receiving stolen property.
Officials say the car he was driving was reported stolen in Columbus.
Toler was taken into custody and later released.
Ashbrook and Polanco remain in the Washington County Jail.
They're expected in court for their arraignments Monday at 1 p.m.
Additional charges are pending.
