Funding for breast cancer research and education just grew by nearly $2,300 thanks to folks in southeastern Ohio who bought McDonald's' McCafes.
Employees of Selby General Hospital, on behalf of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, accepted a check for $2,293.
During a weekend back in April, one dollar from every McCafe sold was donated to Komen, and this particular check will benefit the Columbus, Ohio affiliate.
"Breast cancer has affected millions of women all over the world. It's affected many of our customers and our employees and family members. And we just want to do everything we can for the cure and to educate our customers and employees on how they can maybe eradicate the illness over the years," Emily Myers said on behalf of McDonald's.
McDonald's has supported Race for the Cure for several years, but this is the first time Ohio has received a portion of the funds.
