It was a busy weekend for holiday travelers, and also for those who work to keep the roads safe.
Ohio Highway Patrol officers at the Marietta Post tell us the number of crashes this fourth of July weekend was just about half of what they experienced last year; responding to 13 last year, and six this year.
However, the number of OVI arrests doubled from last year's four to this year's eight.
Officers also say they issued 55 safety-belt citations and 194 other citations.
