Don't always believe what you see and hear from BVFD. Ask yourself isnt it rather odd they HAD enough now all of a sudden they dont...exactly what is going on within the dept. It is a an ole boys club for sure when they get women they manage to run them off one way or another.

i think that you all need to stop and say thank you to the guys on belpre for ALL the time they take out of there life to help you or your family or friends when they are in need!!! that tells me that there is a lot of people in belpre that dont care about what the guys and girls go through to be able to give the help yolu need!!!!!! so the next time you see anybody for that matter thats on any fire department tell them thank you and that you are glad that they give there own time to leave their family to help you the best way they can!!!!!!!!!!!

I think part of the problems with member ship is the greed of the new elected officals in town looking for any way to fill thier pockets with other peoples sweat, and time with out doing the work to blame the few volunteers isn;t the way to go about things, every chance the officals have had to hurt the workings of the dept they have taken it. for the people of belpre how often do you pull to the side when a car with a red light a siren is coming up from behind. you are the one slowing or stopping the response to the emergency, people need to start to think before they speak

I happen to know first hand the dedication and love for your community that it takes to be a member of the Dept. paid or volunteer. Not as a member, but as a daughter. My Dad has dedicated 57 years of his life to the Dept. and loved every minute of it. All of these men are giving their time and their family time to make sure YOUR family is safe. Some of you seem to have nothing to do but complain. Maybe you should pick up an application and become part of the solution rather than part of the problem. The Dept. has come a long way over the years, from a block garage on Main St. to what it is today. I'm proud of the Dept. and our firefighters, Bob Frank, the new acting chief, and most of all, I'm very proud to call Wesley Walker my Dad.

Well I know what I am talking about. I volunteered for many years with the BVFD and put in MANY hours assisting in one thing or another. When I was down and I need their support it didn't happen. I wasn't in with the "in crowd" so I didn't matter and it hasn't changed.

What if we all had that mentality.. we all just stopped running.. fires dont get put out, people sit in their mangled cars, people in need doesn't get the help the deserve.. because I stopped caring cause of comments I seen left by citizens who don't know.. now obviously Im not going to stop.. you are not enough to make me give up what I've been doing for a few years now. Now comes the promo... Are you ready? Do you want to help your neighbors and all the rest of your city? If you said yes then come on down to the Belpre Volunteer fire department and get started. You will learn the essential keys to fighting fires, traffic control, managing car wrecks, and if you realy want, you can be an emt, We will pay for the training, all we ask for in return is some of your time and a little devotion.. you nust be at least 18 to enter and be out of high school. and by the way people.. I am a fire fighter and I do want to see new members. thank you for your time. Get the facts before you post lies!

For starters most of you are speaking on something you know nothing about. That firefighter was let go for several different reasons.. but that was the City's decision.. Not the FD's. Everyone has flaws but Wesley and Bob are both good individuals. Wemon ARE welcome and we have female members.. it's not an all boys club. IF YOU WANT TO JOIN, GET AN APP. We are short on members. Now about this paid squad situation.. We give up our time, our family time to help the city we live in.. it would be nice to get a little compensation for it.. Do I have to have it.. NO .. it's volunteer and I get that.. some of you dont.. you sit on your butt criticizing me.. why donnt you join, you'll find out ALOT you were wrong about. And I'm sorry that I have a job and can't make all the runs.. I really am.. have you ever slept thru your alarm.. sometimes Im asleep and dont wake up to the tones Im a heavy sleeper and I miss runs.. You want to criticize me for that Fine.. I'll stop making any runs.. happy now

Anonymous, actually there are quite a few volunteer fire departments in the valley that have women firefighters. I know the Belmont VFD has 4 women. If you listen to a scanner you can hear several female voices responding on emergency runs at any given time.

I'm a 36 year old woman and let my EMT cert expire many years ago but would like to get it back. Anybody here know how I go about that?

I really didn't see any comments that were that bad about either family. I really like the whole Walker family. They are very caring people who loves there FAMILY and community. I can't say so much for the other so I will say nothing.

As a long time friend of both the Walker and Frank families, I know that they would not appreciate some of these comments that are being made about them. And I realize that some of you may not care, but, have some respect for others! People can spend an awful lot of time complaining and making rude comments, but, have little or no time to go out and make a difference if they don’t like the way their community is being run. You shouldn’t pinpoint the blame on just certain people when there are higher authorities that should be held accountable for some of the decisions that are made.

If all the guys in Belpre don't have the time to train to be an EMT, why not let the ladies in town take the training. I would bet that would take care of almost, if not all of your problem. Either that, or let St. Joe or CCMH come in at take over your operation. They have done it in Williamstown and it seems to work. And whats the big deal about the training. It all part of life. If you want to do something bad enough, you will take the training and get the education to do it. If not, quit your whining. Maybe Judy and Bufferfly would want to take the EMT training. My guess is that the Belpre VFD is an old boys club like most of the other VFD in the valley. NO Women !!
