President Obama has been in office less than a year, but he's already receiving a Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel committee is praising him for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

This comes as a surprise to many, as some say the award was given for promises and not actual accomplishments.

"So, what they're saying is they're giving him the prize for what he hopes to accomplish or might accomplish rather than any list of accomplishments. That's what makes it a strange choice for the Nobel Peace Prize," Dr. Napp Nazworth, a political science professor at Marietta College, said.

Dr. Nazworth says the prize may criticize the Bush administration more than actually awarding the President.
