It's a night to salute one of our public servants.
The William P.A. Nicely Award for lifetime achievement in public service was given to the honorable Judge Daniel B. Douglass Tuesday night.
The Judge says he served eight years on the bench, from 1984-1992 and now serves as Senior Status Judge to surrounding counties.
The guest speaker for the event is Morgantown businessman John Raese, who the Judge has known for many years.
"...Well, it means a lot-- I'm thankful for it. Usually nobody says anything NICE about you until Leavitts and Labert-Tatman are taking care of the ceremonies," joked Judge Daniel Douglass, "and so I appreciated it, and I appreciate my family-- most of them are here."
The Wood County Republican Executive Committee arranged the social hour, dinner and program at the Parkersburg Country Club Tuesday evening.
