Police have arrested a man they say scammed two area residents selling ATVs through a local publication.
Parkersburg Police Captain Delmas Barker says over the weekend two people reported the same crime.
In each case, he says the victim advertises an ATV for sale in a local publication.
The suspect then calls the seller expressing interest in buying the vehicle.
When the suspect test drives the ATV, he drives off and never returns the vehicle.
Parkersburg Police put a sting operation in place when another ATV seller was contacted by the suspect.
The operation was a success, leading to the arrest of Dennis Hutton, of Pine Grove.
Hutton is charged with Grand Larceny.
Captain Barker says if you're selling an ATV or any vehicle, make sure you hold the persons ID if they request a test drive.
