A suspect in the robbery of a Meigs County bank in September has been arrested hundreds of miles away after another bank robbery in Mississippi.
Ocean Springs, Mississippi Police said Sean Mitchell of Athens was arrested Thursday after he brandished a loaded .22 caliber gun and stole a large amount of money from a bank in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. The amount of money was not released. Police said no one was injured and all of the money was recovered and returned to the bank.
Police believe the 41-year-old is responsible for robbing the Farmers Bank on Ohio Route 7 in Tuppers Plains back in September.
According to police the suspect brought a grocery bag into the bank and told employees he had a bomb in it when really there was only a rock in it.
Police said aggravated robbery charges have been filed in Meigs County Court and an armed robbery charge in Mississippi.
Mitchell was behind bars in Mississippi Friday on a $200,000 bond.
