Some local high school students got a history lesson Monday, and who better to teach it than those who were there?
Veterans of various wars and military branches were at Parkersburg High School Monday morning to share their stories with students.
From WWII to the war in Iraq, students were able to hear all about the life of a veteran, and the sacrifices that were made.
"You view them, you know you see the man on the poster, you see them on the video, but you don't actually connect with them," Wes Cox, a student, said. "Just to see them and have their personal stories, you get a whole different element of someone who's a veteran."
Students also had the chance to ask the veterans a few questions, and of course show their gratitude.
