The West Virginia State Fire Marshal has ruled the fire accidental in nature.

The fire marshall says the fire was caused by an electrical short in the attic.

Officials say the blaze caused $250,000 in damage and the hotel should be closed roughly 8 weeks for remodeling.

An official from the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office is in Mineral Wells Friday afternoon.

As he works to figure out what caused a fire to break out at the Microtel Inn this morning.

The hotel manager says there were twenty two guests at the Microtel Inn when the fire broke out just after 8 o clock Friday morning.

And they all managed to evacuate the area quickly and safely.

Firefighters were faced with flames and heavy smoke when they arrived at the hotel on Old Nicolette Road.

Crews say they started attacking the fire from inside the building, but soon took to the roof to get to the flames.

The Mineral Wells fire chief says the fire was contained to the attic and two rooms suffered fire damage.

The hotel night auditor says when the alarm went off he ran to where the smoke was coming from.

Kevin Jones, night auditor at the Microtel Inn says "And i went up and checked those rooms myself with two fire extinguishers, no fire in the rooms themselves, it was in the attic. And the sprinkler systems, you know, kept it contained until the fire department got here."

Nobody was injured in the fire.

Although only the attic and two rooms suffered fire damage, the fire chief says half of the building has water damage.

The Microtel Inn will remain closed the rest of Friday.

The manager says she doesn't know right now when they will reopen, but the state fire marshals investigation could take up to a week to complete.
