Parkersburg Mayor Bob Newell has announced his selection to replace retiring Police Chief Gerald Board.
Sergeant Joseph E. Martin, a twelve-year veteran of the force, has worked with the Parkersburg Narcotics and Violent Crimes Task Force. Before that, he was a supervisor in the police department's Uniform Division and Detective Bureau.
The Marine Corps vet also has served on the S.W.A.T. for the past three years.
Martin is scheduled to be confirmed as the new chief by the Parkersburg City Council at its November 24th meeting.
Former Police Chief Gerald Board served as Parkersburg's Police Chief for nearly four years. He retired earlier this month after more than 30 years on the force.
