Officials say a 9-1-1 call went bad in Wirt County Sunday night, and ended with a state police trooper shooting the caller out of self defense.
Officials say just after 11 pm Sunday, a state police trooper responded to a 9-1-1 call at an Elizabeth home at the intersection of Route 14 and Caltrider Lane.
When the trooper arrived, officials say the caller, 39-year-old Glenna Westfall, grabbed a sword and lunged at him.
The trooper shot Westfall twice and then called for medical assistance.
Westfall was taken to the hospital for treatment. Her condition is unknown at this time.
The trooper was not injured.
