Officials said around 2:15 p.m. Thursday John Canavan made threats to the bank clerk at the People's Bank inside the Vienna Walmart and also said he was going to blow the place up.
Initial reports indicated Canavan had a gun but when officers arrived police said Canavan was unarmed.

If convicted Canavan faces no less than one year in jail or at least a $5,000 fine.
Canavan's bond was set at $5,000 dollars.
