Update: Main Roads Clear, Authorities Still Want Drivers To Be Cautious
WTAP News Washington County remains under a Level One Snow Emergency.
Sheriff Larry Mincks said primary and secondary roads are clear but there is still a Level One because some rural roads, especially gravel roads, remain icy and snow covered. Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy said major roads are clear in the county but drivers should still use caution on side roads.

Washington County remains under a Level One Snow Emergency.
Sheriff Larry Mincks said primary and secondary roads are clear but there is still a Level One because some rural roads, especially gravel roads, remain icy and snow covered. Sheriff Mincks wants drivers to travel with caution on rural roads across the county. A Level One means roads are hazardous and drivers are warned to be cautious.
Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy said major roads are clear but drivers should still use caution when driving on side roads, especially gravel roads.

Washington County remains under a Level One Snow Emergency. Most primary and secondary roads are passable by passenger vehicles. However, some secondary and rural roads require 4-wheel drive.
Wood County primary roads are clear. Secondary and gravel roads are slick and dangerous. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while driving today.

Wood County Sheriff Jeff Sandy says that the main roads are clear, but the secondary roads and gravel roads are slippery.
Sheriff Sandy says, "Wood County motorist should be cautious on secondary roads and gravel roads. "

As the snow has been melting and road conditions have improved, the main roads are clear in Washington County early Saturday evening.
Sheriff Larry Mincks said the county remains under a Level One Snow Emergency Level . A Level One means roads are hazardous and drivers are warned to be cautious.
Sheriff Mincks said the main roads are clear and more secondary roads are improving. Saturday night he anticipates the roads will become slippery as the temperature is expected to drop. Sheriff Mincks wants drivers to proceed with caution, be careful, and slow down.

Sheriff Larry Mincks issued this update statement on Friday:
"Washington County remains under a Level One Snow and Weather Advisory.
State, City, County and Township crews are working to improve roadway conditions. Main arteries are passable by passenger vehicles in most areas. Secondary roads may require four wheel and/or front wheel drive vehicles. The Sheriff's Office recommends only driving if necessary and CONTACTING YOUR EMPLOYER TO SEE IF YOU ARE AN ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE WHO SHOULD REPORT FOR WORK."

Hazardous road conditions have authorities asking motorists to exercise extreme caution Friday.
Scattered snow showers mixed with windy conditions will make driving difficult throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley through Saturday afternoon.

Southeast Ohio Counties remain under a Level 2 Snow Advisory Friday morning. Required Travel only. West Virginia Sheriff's have not issued advisories for motorists today.
Athens, Noble, Monroe, Morgan and Washington Counties remain under a Level 2 Snow Advisory. A Level 2 Snow Advisory means roadways are hazardous. Only required travel is recommended.

Many southeast Ohio county sheriff's have upgraded their Ohio Snow Emergency Level declarations Thursday afternoon as the winter storm arrived.
Among the declarations is Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks snow advisory stating "Roadways are hazardous. Only those who feel it is necessary to travel should be on the roadways. CONTACT YOUR EMPLOYER TO SEE IF YOU SHOULD REPORT FOR WORK."
Athens, Morgan and Noble counties are all at Level Two Thursday evening. Only Monroe county remains at Level One (snow-covered and slippery) and Meigs county has not issued any declaration.
Another 1"-to-2" inches of snow are possible overnight, creating hazardous conditions for motorists. Anyone on the roads are urged to use extreme caution.
