It's been three days since a winter storm dumped several inches of wet snow on the area, but power crews, mainly in rural areas, are still dealing with its aftermath.

We were out with a power crew Monday from Washington Electric Cooperative...which, in spite of its name, actually serves a six-county area of southeast Ohio. It was repairing lines along the
Washington-Athens County line.

While wet snow accumulated on tree branches...it also helped to bring down power lines.

And those lines aren't just located along the roadway.

"The snow is a heavy burden, and the trees just bow over, and they lay on the lines," said crew leader Mark Ehrenberg. "Our lines aren't along the road, they're a good ways down in there."

Ehrenberg says one line had to be repaired in more than a dozen different places.

And it isn't just Washington Electric.

American Electric Power reported Monday that a little more than 200 customers in Morgan County were still without power.

Washington Electric has had assistance from power companies and crews from Southern Ohio and Kentucky in trying to restore power to residents.

the cooperative says it's estimated to be all back on by wednesday...but another approaching storm could affect that estimate.
