The chilly winds of winter continue to blow and for many that may mean heating and energy bills are blowing up. Fortunately, there are a number of products on the market that can make keeping your home toasty warm both easy and inexpensive.
First, what looks like an average curtain could save you big bucks. Christy Gragg the Lowe's Store Manager in South Parkersburg says "I have these in my own house. The Eclipse Energy Saving Curtains. These curtains are very heavy and reduce the transference of heat in your windows. They keep your air conditioning in in the summer and the heat in in the winter. You can reduce your energy bill up to 25% in your room by using these and those are under $25 so its economical as well."
Next, and maybe not so surprisingly, space heaters are growing in popularity. Gragg continues "small heaters really save on your energy bill. You don't have to heat your entire house up. You can control it just room by room"
Then, an oldie but a goodie. Weather-stripping is affordable and simple.
But there's a new product that's getting rave reviews from consumers. Made from shrink wrap window and door sealing kits are both affordable and easy to use.
Gragg says "the favorite probably are the window seal kits. We have them for patio doors and windows. It's a very easy way for homeowners to reduce the draft without replacing their windows. They're both under ten dollars. It's a very economical way to save some energy."
Sealing yourself from the frosty winds of winter may just make for a more cozy and economic season.
