Cases of H1N1 here in the valley may have been dwindling the last few months, but health officials are expecting a surge come spring.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department's Epidemiologist, Patrick Burke, said he's keeping an eye on information from local hospitals and area schools regarding H1N1.
Burke said he hasn't seen a surge yet, but he expects it to possibly happen in the next few months.
"I think it's important to remember this is a serious flu. Every indication we have received from the Centers For Disease Control suggests that we should expect a second wave, " said Burke.
An estimated 20,000 people have received an H1N1 vaccination from the health department.
H1N1 vaccinations are being given by the health department by appointment only and you're asked to call 304-485-7374 if interested.
