An Athens County family has lost much of their home and their belongings after an attic fire early Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to the fire at an Adams Street home in Nelsonville. Luckily no one was injured.
Firefighters said their efforts to contain the fire were hampered because there were so many belongings inside the house.
The blaze was eventually contained to the second floor and attic but now there is heavy fire and water damage. These costs are valued at roughly $80,000.
Saturday volunteers with the Athens County chapter of the American Red Cross were helping the family.
Firefighters said the cause of the fire was still being investigated.
