Four fire departments responded to a fire at a residence near Ohio route 550 late Wednesday morning.
Flames could still be seen coming from the home of Barbara Cody, a half-hour after firefighters arrived at the scene. They were still putting out flareups at the home late in the afternoon.
Dick Sams, an engineer with the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, said the smoke alarms in the residence alerted its occupants, and everyone escaped unharmed.
It is not yet known what caused the fire.
Because there were no fire hydrants nearby, departments from Marietta, Reno, Oak Grove and Warren responded with pumper trucks.
