Mayor Newell 2010 Citizen of the Year

The Parkersburg Elks Lodge has awarded Mayor Bob Newell with the 2010 Citizen of the Year Award.
Saturday night during a banquet at the First Presbyterian Church, state and city leaders as well as former recipients honored Mayor Newell.
Elks Lodge 198 members said the lifelong Parkersburg resident received this award for his work in revitalizing downtown, the development of Point Park, and the quality of life for residents in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Before serving as mayor, Newell was the city's police chief.
Mayor Newell said he was humbled by the award.
West Virginia Auditor Glen Gainer spoke at the event and Governor Joe Manchin sent a video message congratulating the mayor.
