We are just weeks away from the Miss United States Pageant and one local girl is ready to make a big splash in sin city. Miss West Virginia USA, Erica Jade Goldsmith is from Mineralwells, and ready to compete.

Goldsmith is gearing up to head to Las Vegas to compete for the title of Miss USA. Tuesday, Goldsmith was at Mountain State Blue Cross And Blue Shield for a send off party.

Goldsmith says even though she's excited to get to Vegas the pageant business can be anything but pretty.

"It's a lot of hard work, competing in pageants," Goldsmith says. "Because, you have to have the grades, you have to have goals and stay focused, and you have to be able to remain calm under pressure, because anything that can go wrong, will go wrong."
