WTAP Wins Four First Place Awards in Annual OH A.P. Broadcasters Contest
WTAP News WTAP-TV won four first-place awards and one second-place award in the annual Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters contest.

WTAP-TV won four first-place awards and one second-place award in the annual Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters contest.
Entries submitted by small, medium and large markets are judged by other similarly-sized television stations in the country.
WTAP-TV's Cathleen Moxley won a first place award for "Best Breaking News Coverage" for her work on the crash of a small plane in late July 2009 near the Jackson County / Wood County line.
Moxley also won a first place award for "Best Reporter."
Leslie Barrett won a first place award for "Best Series" for her May 2009 three-part report entitled "Staycations," in which she showcased the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, "The WIlds" nature preserve in Cumberland, Ohio, and "ziplining" at the Hocking Hills Canopy Tours in Hocking County, Ohio.
Former WTAP-TV Daybreak and Noon weather anchor Abby Weppler won a first place award for "Best Anchor." WTAP at Five and FOX Parkersburg News at Ten anchor Allison Rhea won a second place award for "Best Anchor."
Abby is now part of the weather team at WSBT-TV in South Bend, IN.
The winners in the annual contest were announced at an awards luncheon Sunday in Columbus.
